Run The Duff 2026

Race Series Event 2 – Run The Duff 5K & 10K

The second event in this year’s race series took us to the inaugural Run The Duff 5K & 10K, superbly organised by Carryduff Running Club with a very nice goodie bag with T-shirt. The event was delivered in fantastic fashion, with great support and a warm welcome despite the less-than-promising start to the day.

The morning began very, very wet, and it looked as though it might be a fairly miserable outing. Thankfully, by race time the rain had eased and both races were run in dry conditions — although there was no escaping the challenge of the tough, hilly courses!

We had a strong turnout from the club, with seven runners taking on the 5K and six lining up for the 10K.

The 10K was the first to set off, with Fabrice being first home for the club with a strong run on the very testing and brutle hilly course. Tommy followed in second, with Nicole taking third place. Aoibhin ran well for fourth, while Justine and Fiona rounded out the team’s performances in what was a demanding event over the longer distance and congratulations to all the runners and wish you all speedy recovery.. Well done to Justine in getting a 10k PB, excellent going, definitely deserve the 🍷.

In the 5K there was bit of a walk to the start and wait for road closure but Mark led the BRC contingent home, followed closely by Aine and David McB in what was clearly a tightly contested race. Jill secured fourth place, with Donna next across the line. Aaron and Paul McC completed the club’s 5K contingent, battling the hills all the way to the finish.

Overall, it was a challenging but enjoyable morning of racing, with solid performances across both distances. Well done to everyone who took part and picked up a very nice medal for there collection and if you got a pizza 🍕 😀

Well done everyone 😀

The third event in this year’s race series follows later this month, with the option of two 10K races — Jimmy’s in Downpatrick and the Craic 10K in Belfast. Another great opportunity for members to pick up points in the series.
