BRC Parkrun Montalto (Race Series 2025 Event 3)

BRC parkrunners at Montalto

We couldn’t have asked for better conditions for the third event in this year’s club race series—a full club takeover at Montalto Estate parkrun, with sunshine from the first step to the last.

Montalto is a challenging course, with three undulating loops and plenty of twists and gravel underfoot. It’s not one for an easy cruise, but the club came out in strength and handled the course well. For many, it was their first time on the course, and everyone took it on with great energy and determination.

Leading from the front was Chris Murphy, who ran a superb race and crossed the line well ahead of the pack. David Hynes followed close behind, looking strong, with Mark Rocks also putting in a great performance, particularly on the climbs. David McBride and Shaun Henry were next, keeping the pace high and the pressure on.

A standout moment came from Jill Mellon, who not only ran well but celebrated an incredible milestone—her 350th parkrun. A fantastic achievement and well deserved recognition.

Jonathan Porter came in next, followed by solid runs from Amanda Mogey and Donna Healey, who both handled the tricky terrain with confidence. Eamon Rafferty maintained strong form throughout, with Helen Daly and Michelle Sweeney showing great consistency.

Tommy Cheng ran a focused solo effort, followed by Paul McCorry, who kept a steady, even pace. Aaron Hill looked composed through the final stretch, and Olivia Pickup tackled the hills with ease. Maureen McHugh, Des Reid, Louise McAree, Oonagh Murray and Glenn Adair all followed with determined efforts, rounding off a strong team showing.

Rowena Fair completed the course as a parkwalker, joined by the ever-reliable Betty the dog, whose wagging tail helped keep morale high throughout.

Afterwards, the group gathered for coffee and a well-earned catch-up. Montalto delivered a tough but rewarding morning, with great running, support and team spirit on full display.
